LOVE

Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you -Mathew 5:44

What if someone told you this is the definition of true love? Would you want it? Would you ever want to “fall in love’? Would you give your heart if you knew it would be returned to you in a thousand pieces?

It was certainly the kind of love which Jesus demonstrated through His life and death

What if the outcome of true love is to respond to pain with joy? To sorrow with thanksgiving? To loss with gratitude?

What if my role in affliction is to pray for my oppressor? To look for an opportunity to bless and not to curse? What if the persecution is the price for my peace?

The God who calls Himself love revealed His heart to humanity through pain and sorrow. Through tears and bloodshed He gathered us to Himself. Today, through our own pain and sorrow, He continues to gather more to Himself.

True love may be nothing like we expect it to be. Totally incomprehensible. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness comprehends it not – John 1:5

Is your heart broken? Are you weighed down with sorrow? Overwhelmed by loneliness? Burdened with unanswered questions? Then you are not alone. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit – Psalm 34:18

The God who is love goes before you, stands behind you and watches over you. He will perfect all that concerns you – Psalm 138:8

Let us not be weary in doing good for in due course we shall reap a reward if we do not give up – Galatians 6:9
